Proofseal
Sealer For Flooring And Oily Timbers.
A penetrating sealer that locks in timbers tannin and oils, preventing issues with discolouration and adhesion caused by natural oils leaching over time.
Proofseal reduces the tendency for lighter coloured timbers to darken once they are top coated. It is ideal for sealing naturally oily timbers such as Spotted Gum, Brush Box and Tallowwood.
Proofseal can be overcoated with Feast Watson Clear Varnish, WeatherProof Varnish, FloorProof Pro, FloorSeal Oil, FloorClear, Floor Paint, Liming White Floor Finish, Black Japan Floor Finish and Crackle Lacquer.
Note: Proofseal should NOT be used under Feast Watson Woodshield Oil, Decking Oil, Decking Stain, Outdoor Furniture Oil or Tung Oil.
surface preparation
New Timber
Sand to a smooth surface and remove all sanding dust before coating. To achieve a super-smooth finish or if the timber grain is open or coarse, apply a coat of Feast Watson Sanding Sealer and sand back as per the directions prior to applying Proofseal.
Previously Coated Timber
Previously varnished surfaces need to be sanded to bare timber. Remove all sanding dust before coating.
Sanding Sealer
Application
Proofseal should be stirred thoroughly before and during application with a flat blade stirrer.
Apply a flood coat using a brush, roller or spray. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated.
A second coat is necessary for porous timbers or when applied by spray. Allow 20 minutes between coats. For open grain timbers, sand back the first coat thoroughly prior to applying the second coat.
